Hi TIUbrides, bridesmaids & mothers of the bride!
This weekend was a huge weekend for wedding planning-- I had a tasting on Thursday, my mom and future mother-in-law flew in to California on Friday and we went dress shopping on Saturday! And guess what... I found my dress too!! I'll be posting all the pics tomorrow... everything BUT the dress of course ;)
Tomorrow will be a fun post!
Today, I want to share a little bit about photography! As you may know~ I had my engagement photo session with Brain last September. It was actually really fun! We shot right out in front of our house and had a blast. I didn't know how Brian would be in front of the camera, but he was really goofy and we just laughed the whole time! Have you had your engagement session? How silly did you feel? For some reason we couldn't take one 'serious' photo, so we were just cracking up in every picture.
We set up our session with our friend Nicole Hill. She's also going to be shooting the guest and atmosphere photos at the wedding in August! I've mentioned it before, it will be Nicole and our gal Jana Williams ~ a guest post is coming soon from her too! :) They're both the BEST & together, we know our wedding will be captured so beautifully.
We think it's important, and worth it to have a couple photographers for a few reasons...
One: It's A LOT of work to capture all the little moments. It's only one day of your whole life!
Two: We want to be able to look back and see anything we missed :) Especially our crazy guests having a blast.
Three: We want our friends and family to be able to go home with pictures from their trip too!
In my own experience ~ you buy a new dress, travel, go to a beautiful place with your date, have the time of your life, and before you know it- it's over with no pictures! We want our guests to be able to take photos together at our venue (we're hoping for a vineyard venue in Wine Country!!! Crossing our fingers we get it)
When we send our Thank You cards, we're going to include a couple photos for the guests and of course upload all of them to download and save. Nicole has such a unique and beautiful style of shooting and we just know it will be perfect at a vineyard, on a beach or wherever we end up!
Nicole also put together a cute guest post on how to set up your engagement session ~ she helped us decide where to shoot, what meant the most to us and told us to set aside a couple outfits and how to loosen up... with some bubbly! ;)
~Guest Post from Nicole~
1. Embrace your personal style
The key to having beautiful engagement images is comfort! The last thing you want is to end up feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera. In order to look comfortable in front of the camera you need to feel comfortable too! Don’t let yourself feel pressured into wearing something you wouldn't normally wear! Find you! Are you a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl or would you never be caught dead in flats? Embrace your personal style and let yourself wear something you can rock like no other!
(a few of you asked~ this dress is from FreePeople! Karena got it for me :)
2. Find your element
Let your location reflect something about the two of you as a couple.
Where is your home? Are you outdoorsy? Love the city life? Crafty? Minimalistic? Chic? Sports fanatics? Did he propose somewhere special? Do you have a secret spot? Where did you two meet? These are all questions you need to be asking yourself when trying to find the proper location for your engagement shoot. Let the photographs tell your story.
3. Be YOU!
Whether you two are serious, fun, quirky, crazy or goofballs make sure to be YOU! I don’t think it makes much sense for a couple that is constantly laughing and being silly to take engagement photos trying to mimic Tyra Banks in Americas Next Top Model. Smizing (as Tyra would say) doesn't work if that’s not your style and it will show. You don’t want to look back on these images and ask yourself “Who are these people?!” So remember to be YOU & embrace the kind of people you and your fiancé are!
4. Find a photographer you trust
There is nothing worse than being uncomfortable in front of the camera. Make sure that your photographer not only has the style that you are looking for but also is someone you can trust. You’re going to want your personalities to mesh so try to have a consultation/phone call with the photographer beforehand if at all possible. One of the most important reasons for having an engagement session is not only that you get amazing photographs. It also it gives you a chance to truly feel comfortable with your photographer before the wedding day, just another small step in ensuring that your wedding day is absolutely perfect.
5. Last, but not least... RELAX!
Now let’s all remember that these images are a representation of the start of the rest of your lives, a reflection of you and your fiancé and your journey together. A proclamation that you found the love of your life! I mean, we are talking soul mates here! This is only the first tiny step in all the grandiose planning that is involved in preparing for your perfect wedding. You’re definitely going to want the first step to be as smooth as can be! Don’t stress or take out the pressure of all the crazy planning on your loved one or yourself. You are both here because well, you are madly in love with each other, so remember that! Be happy, have fun, drink a little wine, have some laughs and trust that everything will fall into place (cause it will) and remember your photographer will ALWAYS take care of you.

✓ I challenge all my TIU Brides & Bridesmaids to (at least) 2 miles per day!!! Whether you run it, walk it, elliptical or cycle it. If your cycling, take your total mileage and divide it by 3. When you're 14 weeks out from the wedding, we want you to complete 14 miles per week... that's #200byWedding!!! YES!! 200 miles by the wedding day! It's an average of 2 miles a day. Miss a day? No worries :) Just add on a few miles the next day. Make sure you complete your 14 miles per week. We KNOW you can do this. It is a good way to help de-stress, AND it's great for your body (just keep thinking of that dress!)
Every day we want you to do something to sweat :) YES, everyday! Your 'rest days' will be a walk, stretch, yoga class, your foam roller workout with us - something! This way it's still part of your routine and it becomes a habit. Yoga will help ease your mind, and remind you of all you are thankful for too. Namaste <3
✓ Find Motivation! You can find motivation from us and the community here ~ community.toneitup.com, on Twitter twitter.com/ToneItUp, Facebook facebook.com/ToneItUp and on instagram :) We'll also be posting a lot right here, on the blog!
✓ Tone It Up for your dress... & honeymoon bikini! ;)
Whether it's 'Fit 'n Flare,' 'Mermaid,' 'A-Line'... visualize how you want to feel. Have you done any dress shopping? What area do you want to tone up? Depending on what style dress you decide on, you'll want to really focus on certain areas ~ I made this chart below to make things easy for you!
Keep in mind... we still want you to focus on total body workout routines, especially for your honeymoon, but adding in a few focus points will be super helpful! We'll be releasing some bridal workouts and we also created a Wedding Series Playlists with our videos! All total body toning, abs, buns, thighs, arms, shoulders... everything! Add your favorites to your weekly schedule.
Also make sure you follow the Weekly Fitness Schedule. It is posted every Sunday so you can plan your week ~ Preparation = Success!
A couple of you have asked about 'spot reducing.' While you can't 'spot reduce,' you can spot sculpt by adding muscle tone! When you shed a layer of fat from cardio and nutrition, it's best to have lean muscle to smooth out your arms, abs and the backs of your thighs. So, YES ~ what you're doing is WORKING!!!
Remember, the Beach Babe DVD has 7 workouts that focus on abs, booty, arms, long & lean stretching and cardio.
A few ways to reach your goals...

✓ Ask your future hubs to join you for the challenge! Be a fit couple together ;)
