Tell us about yourself!
Hi Bombshells, I’m Danielle! I’m 30 years old and live in Southern Connecticut with my #tiuhubby Bobby and our dog Diesel. Bobby and I are high school sweethearts ~ we’ve been together for 14 years! I work for Clinique as a sales executive and I get to travel to a different mall every day to talk about skincare and makeup; it’s my dream job!
What was your biggest inspiration to finally make a change in your life?
The catalyst for change was being tagged in a Facebook picture and not recognizing myself in it. It seriously took me a few seconds to figure out which one was me! I hadn’t realized how unhealthy I was and I knew I needed to make a change. I had also started to develop some health issues that I knew were a result of my weight. No big surprise, they all vanished as soon as I got back in shape.
What goals did you set for yourself in order to make a change?
My initial goal was to get in shape for an amazing trip to Hawaii I had coming up. I knew I wanted to enjoy my trip without insecurities holding me back. I also wanted to feel active and fit on vacation, versus latharic and over-indulgent the whole time. It was amazing! I ran on the beach each morning, went snorkeling in a bikini, and even climbed Diamond Head like a champ. It was such a milestone victory. It really motivated me to keep going.
How did you find out about Tone It Up?
Pinterest! I was desperately searching for new fitness routines and recipes to make my new lifestyle more interesting. BAM! I see these trainers/besties that are so gorgeous and look so happy! I stayed up way past my bedtime that night exploring every crevice of ToneItUp.com and watching every K&K YouTube video. I was hooked!
How did you keep yourself motivated to keep going?
Honestly, my biggest motivation to keep going is the #TIUCommunity! Every morning, I drink my coffee and scroll through my Instagram feed. I’m so incredibly motivated by the girls who have already got their workout in, already made healthy breakfast decisions, or are supporting each other with positive words of encouragement. It makes me want to inspire and support others too!
How has following the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan contributed to your success?
It’s changed my life! Before becoming a member I had lost weight by eating pre-packaged meals, fat-free/low-fat everything, artificial sweeteners, and portion controlled snack packs. I went to bed with a growling stomach and never had any energy. Following the Nutrition Plan opened my eyes to the fact that food is fuel for my body! Whole, natural foods can be delicious while filling. The plan also taught me the important lesson about which foods to eat at what time of day– that’s key!
What are you doing now to keep up with your healthy lifestyle?
Surrounding myself with like-minded people really helps to maintain this healthy lifestyle. I’ve recently committed to meeting more people in the community and it’s really helping. We go for runs, take classes together, and eat at great places with healthy choices. I can’t wait to meet 400 new friends at the TIU Retreat!!!
How do you treat yourself while staying on track?
I allow myself one meal a week that’s not totally Lean, Clean, and Green but I make sure it’s really worth it. It’s usually a great meal with friends or family instead of a solo trip through a drive through! I also like to find substitutes for my cravings with foods that are better for me. Like the BIKINI PROGRAM Sweet Potato and Beet Chips instead of Tostitos.
What is your workout routine like?
I follow the TIU Weekly Schedule pretty closely. I love running so I go out about 3 times a week, do 2 HIIT workouts a week, and I do whatever toning routines K&K tell me to, haha. I also go to a Yoga class once a week and am trying to include other different classes like Kickboxing. TIU taught me to squeeze in quickies whenever I can; my favorite is to do 100 squats while I’m curling my hair each day!
What is your favorite TIU workout?
HIIT the Beach from Beach Babe 2!! It is the best workout you can get in 40 minutes where everything gets toned. I love to see how much stronger I’ve gotten since the last time I did it. So motivating!
What advice would you give someone who needs motivation and encouragement to get healthier?
You have one life, why live it unhappy with yourself? You can’t give your best to other areas of your life if you’re not giving the best to yourself. This quote really helped me get started, “A year from now you will have wished you started today.“
