Tell us about yourself.
Hi beach babes I am Marisa. I am a 31 year old mom of two amazing boys, Dominic (2.5 years old) and Jaxon (14 months old). I’m also married to the love of my life for almost 5 years. I live in Miami but wan born and raised in California. I am currently a busy stay at home mom and I love it.
What was your biggest inspiration to finally make a change in your life?
Having two kids 13 months apart really took a toll on my body. A week after I had my second baby we all moved into a total fixer upper and I had just quit my job to become a stay at home mom. I felt like my world was turned upside down. I followed K&K on Instagram and saw a reminder that the 2014 BIKINI SERIES was starting. I will never forgot that moment when I just looked in the mirror and said, “This is it. You have to do this for your marriage, your kids and most importantly yourself.” I started TIU weighing 142 lbs and wearing a size 10 in clothes. After following the weekly workouts and Tone It Up Nutrition Plan I now weigh 124 lbs and wear a size 2.
What goals did you set for yourself in order to make a change?
When I first started, I told myself I had to see it through to the end. I have a habit of starting something and just quitting when it gets too difficult, but I was able to conquer that! I also really wanted to lose weight and get toned. My arms were a part of my body I was most self conscious of, so I really focused on that. Additionally, I really wanted to run a 5K so I made that a goal too. At first, I couldn’t even run a mile without getting completely winded but I am happy to say I have done multiple races since I started running including a HALF MARATHON!!!!!!! Still can’t believe it! Running is just like coffee I need it in the morning… if not watch out!
How did you keep yourself motivated to keep going?
The changes I immediately started seeing in myself kept me motivated. I am such a happier and healthier person, I don’t ever want to get to the place I was before. Also, seeing all the posts from my #TIUsisters daily gives me a huge boost too. If I ever feel like I am just going to skip a workout I go on Instagram and I see they are all killing it and it motivates me!
How has following the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan contributed to your success?
Lean, Clean N’ Green is the way to go. I now understand why I never was able to see results because I wasn’t eating right. I would work out but still eat unhealthy. Most importantly K & K have given me healthier options of the things I love: cookies (you seriously need to try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies, I add walnuts!) pancake (hello, Perfect Fit Pancakes!!), muffins ect.
What are you doing now to keep up with your healthy lifestyle?
I follow the Weekly Schedule, I also follow the Nutrition Plan! The best part is that my healthy lifestyle has also helped with feeding my kids. They tend to want anything I eat so if I am eating healthy they are as well. I also make sure to get that Booty Call in. Some of my #TIUsisters call me the BootyCall queen, but being a mom you don’t know how your day is going to go so I wake up extra early to workout!
