You’ve probably see this vibrant team member all over the community supporting everyone and offering a ton of great tips. And now, she’s sharing her full story with all of us…
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Olivia. I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO but I’m moving to Arkansas at the end of December. Right now I work for my father’s construction company as a laborer. This surprises most people, as I am the most girlie girl you will meet! I am newly married to my wonderful husband Matthew. We have 3 cats and 3 dogs! They are a handful to say the least.
How long was it between your before & after pics?
There has been 4 years between my before and after pictures. The majority of the weight came off after I started the Tone It Up Nutrition Program!
What was your biggest inspiration to make a change in your life?
My decision to change came when I was moving my little sister into her first apartment in college. I was helping her unpack when I came across a photo of us. The photo told a story: I was unhappy and very unhealthy. My sister was my inspiration. I wanted to look happy and healthy like she did in the picture.
What goals did you set?
When I sat down to write out my goals I decided to take baby steps. I adopted the saying, “slow and steady wins the race.” I was afraid that doing too much too fast would lead to mental and physical burn out.
How did you stay motivated?
The sheer idea that I could possibly inspire even one girl in the TIU community is what kept me motivated. After I had gained a few amazing TIU sisters I felt a responsibility to keep motivating and inspiring.
Did you have any setbacks and how did you overcome them?
I had plenty of set backs along the way. In April of 2014 my husband got a promotion and I had to prepare to sell our home and move to a new state in less than 1 month. I was also dealing with an 18-hour class load. I was stressed out to the max. Most of the weight I had worked hard to remove was gained back in one short month. Once we had officially moved and my semester had ended I took time to sit down with my Tone It Up Nutrition Plan and regain control of my original goals.
How has following the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan contributed to your success?
The entire plan spells out exactly how to eat throughout the entire day. The charts and detailed diagrams are a huge help and were fundamental and vital to my success. I was so much more organized when I used my chart to plan out my meals each week. The nutrition plan also introduced greens into my life I had never even heard of or thought to try. Kale, spinach, and Brussels Sprouts are among my top 5 favorite veggies.
How do you keep up with your healthy lifestyle?
I complete and equal amount of running and toning while staying on top of my nutrition. While on the TIU plan I fell in love with running which was also vital to my success. I also create an activity board each week, which sits under my TV in my bedroom to keep me accountable each day.
What are your fave healthy foods and snacks!?
Right now I am obsessed with the spicy chickpea recipe from the Frisky Fall Edition of the nutrition plan. I am also enjoying egg whites with spicy avocado. I also absolutely LOVE chocolate, so when I need my fix I like to mix chocolate Perfect Fit with soymilk! I will even add some spinach and ice to make my version of a “milkshake!”
What is your workout routine like?
My workout routine is well planned out. I workout 5-6 days a week leaving 1 day as an active rest day. I get up each morning at 5:00am and head to work. I am in construction so I use my morning at work as my Booty Call! When I get home I go for a run and then complete my toning afterward.
My absolute favorite Tone It Up workout are the HIIT the Beach and Bikini Arms from the Beach Babe DVD 2. All of the workouts on the DVD are power packed, but those two always have me sore for days!
What advice would you give someone who needs motivation and encouragement?
My best advice would be to take each day one step at a time. Set a long-term goal, but also set day-by-day goals. The whole picture is less intimidating when you think day to day. Also, JOIN THE A COMMUNITY! I wouldn’t have had the motivation to keep up if I didn’t connect women with the same goals in mind to back me up. The TIU community has been an incredible blessing in my life.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself during this journey?
The most surprising thing I have learned about myself during my journey is the fact that I CAN! I can run 12 miles, I can eat Lean Clean N’ Green, I can love the skin I am in. Before I joined the TIU nutrition plan I used the words ‘maybe,’ ‘can’t,’ or ‘no’ on a daily basis, but now I can’t help but spread my joy around because I CAN!
