We LOVE Food Friday: Protein WAFFLES!!!

Team member Kari Burghardt made waffles Monday morning with the Tone It Up pancake recipe… when we saw it we totally wanted some waffles too ~ sooo we went out and picked up a waffle iron to try it out for ourselves!

We made them and we have to say this is now one of our favorite healthy recipes! We used the exact same recipe as our protein pancakes and just cooked them using a waffle iron instead of in a skillet. The waffles have a great consistency that is a little crispy on the outside and soft & delicious on the inside. Using the waffle maker also makes it easier to keep the batter together while cooking!

Here are the Protein Waffle batter ingredients:

1/2 banana

3 egg whites

1/2 Tbs. Almond Milk

1 Packet Perfect Fit Protein Powder

1 tsp. Cinnamon

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Make sure to fully mash the banana so you get a smooth even consistency. Continue mixing the batter until bubble start to form. Spray your waffle iron with  non-stick cooking spray. Slowly pour the batter into the waffle iron until the mold is completely filled. Close the iron and cook on medium high heat for 3-5 minutes or until the outside of the waffle is golden brown. Open the waffle maker and carefully cut any excess batter from the edges of the waffle. Remove waffle from the maker. Serve with fresh fruit and top with real honey, maple syrup or agave.

We had ours with fresh apple slices and organic honey and Kari made hers with peanut butter, strawberries, maple syrup and grapes!
